it all started couple of months ago when i heard some show on 958 (dad's car) where they were talking about the whole AWARE incident, and so the DJ was opening the phone lines for people to air their views on whether schools should be educating the kids about homosexuality (or something to that effect. i can't bloody remember). and i should have expected the hilarity that was about to ensue: nobody listens to this station except people born before 1965, and people like myself stuck on the cars of people born before 1965.
well, i am thankful to say that at least a couple of people did make some relevant comments and common sense, THEN this crazy bitch of a woman called in.
i cannot remember her (irrelevant) opinion but basically this was her train of thought (oh god people. when would you learn? BRAIN TO MOUTH FILTER PLEASE)
teach about homosexuality in school = encouraging homosexuality in kids = more homosexuals running around = end of the effing world
why got so many homosexuals running around today = blame media, blame other homosexuals being open about their sexual preferences
AND AS IF that wasn't epic enough, she continued on her incoherent rant (i swear. she sounds like paula abdul speaking in mandarin) about how if you allow homosexuals to marry = what will happen tomorrow? = tomorrow you will allow brothers and sisters to get married?! (to which i am rendered completely speechless, and the next thought that popped into my mind was, OMFG YOU CRAZY OLD DINGBAT)
okay first of all you stupid bitch, and you homophobes out there, (and i'm saying this as a straight person. im as straight as clay aiken is gay. that's how straight i am)
IT'S SEXUAL ORIENTATION, NOT PREFERENCE (GET WITH THE PROGRAM)
by saying that it's a preference, you're saying that they in fact, CHOSE to be gay. right. then can i ask a really thought provoking question? WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY WANT TO DO THAT? society's still as close-minded as it ever was 100 years ago (just that people proclaim otherwise) and people still view gay people as "wrong" and "perverted" and "can be cured (WIN)". SO. IS THIS THE KIND OF LIFE THAT THEY WOULD "PREFER"? why would anyone want to put themselves down this more difficult path if they had a choice? i know people who have to get by their lives hiding their true selves, lying to their friends and families precisely because society is still so disapproving of their inclinations. this road is such a difficult one to walk, why on earth would anyone even THINK that this is something they would choose for themselves?!
AND next point, you blind tool, HOW CAN YOU EVEN BEGIN TO COMPARE HOMOSEXUALITY WITH INCEST? WHAT IS THIS F**KERY! (and more recently, some washed up old singer comparing homosexuality to beastility. it just gets better and better) yes, all i can say about this is that, these people so appallingly stupid i'm at a complete loss of words. they should just all die and stop wasting space and oxygen
AND. how can you even THINK that the media/other gay people are responsible for more and more gays today. honey, i'm sure there are just as many gays as there were 100 years ago, just that 90% of them were in the closet, probably married and hating it, or single and in the closet. if you are gay, you are gay. there is no effing way (feel free to disagree) that you can be persuaded to turn gay. you mean, they just woke up one day and thought to themselves, "hey maybe being gay could be cool! i should give it a shot"?? WHUT? and let's assume for one second that there could be some closeted gay guys who did not even know they were gay, who are not exposed to all the pop culture today, are not in any contact with other gay people, do you really think just because you take away the notion of "being gay" away from them, they would be able to lead straight lives AND be happy at the same time? this is where all your stories about married men cheating on their wives with other men come from.
and case in point.
there was this famous gay-bashing/hating pastor in the states, who was eventually caught with a male escort (OH STOP. THE IRONY IS KILLING ME) recently he went onto Oprah and talked about how he tried to suppress that "gay side" of his because of his religion and promise to his wife. so you see. a pastor. do you really think that he, of all people would CHOOSE to be gay?

all im sayin' is, the next time you want to make some remark about some guy, like "that stupid gay" (oh i've heard it), please spare a thought for your friends who may just be hiding the fact that he/she's gay. not asking you to embrace them with wide open arms, but please. it's the 21st century. we all can afford to be a little bit more open-minded and liberal about these things, especially when it may very well concern people that you care about.
(and just one additional point to homophobic guys: hey guess what, even homosexuals are capable of maintaining platonic friendships with other guys! i know it's a radical concept for your puny brain to process. it's alright. take your time with it. wouldn't want your mind to combust spontaneously. and just so you know, you're not all that hot for them to want to jump you)
