wow i just have to type this down before i go to bed

DBL O SUCKS

and no matter how big or dramatic i change the font to, it is still not adequate to describe the level at how much that place sucked

almost every single thing about that place, starting right from the cover charge, sucked.

we paid 15 bucks with NO DRINKS. (KAO EH. i pay 25 at zouk for cover and two drinks! who are you to charge 15 with no drinks?!)
the dj sucked, hence the music sucked.
the crowd (made up mostly of barely legal poseurs) sucked
o bar SUCKED, because for some reason beyond normal human brain processing, there was like zero ventilation and practically no airconditioning and instead in its place, a few pathetic fans. it was so freaking humid in there it was like a sauna. add this factor in with the fact that it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO packed (so much so that you're practically plastered against each other and you choke on stale air/smell of sweat/smell of some idiot's overpowering cologne) and you have a place that should never ever warrant a second visit. ever. (seriously, i can be in phuture for 4 hours and i'll stay cool and dry at the end of it. wtf is this?!)
and to top it all off on this wonderful place that is dbl o, we had to pay even for the storage space for our bags.
AND they close at 2.45am.
AND we waited for 20 mins for our bags.

well i've got this much to say: i would rather pay 20 bucks to go st. james with the disgusting trance music they place rather than come back here and get myself pissed off for nothing. i would rather pay 30 bucks to go to zouk than come back here.

this has got to be the pits of all clubs.

oh, to be fabulously wealthy and living the high life, where life revolves around high society get togethers, where dinners at Les Amis and The Equinox are downplayed to just "simple meals", where you think nothing of splurging hundreds of thousands of dollars on bling, where you travel to exotic locations like madrid and paris just on a whim.. without nary a care in this world. recession? what recession? excusez moi i hear that the latest Prada catalogue is out, get it to me, pronto! tsk. personal assistants. and reschedule my haircut with david gan while you're at it

today i cleaned up my wardrobe and my desk and it was highly therapeutic.
i also watched another 5 episodes of The Mentalist and now i'm officially obsessed with Simon Baker.

very oddly, pictures seem to downplay his looks by 50%.

8 days described him as "devastatingly handsome" and when i saw the picture i was like.. er okay. but honestly, when i finally saw him in the show in the first 5 secs, i was all "WHOA".

man, when he smiles. my heart stops beating for a second.

patrick: "oh cmon. don't tell me you believe she's an actual witch"
kimball: "well no. but i mean if dark forces did exist, then there's a reason there could be people who could control them for their own ends"
patrick: "they're called investment bankers, and they don't live around here"

i realise that my luck hasn't been too great lately (to say the least), so i figured that i should stop doing things that may potentially cause me bad karma, for example, i should
1. NOT laugh my arse off when my mom asked me whether i want to continue studying mBA at a certain local university which is not NBS. a simple "HELL NO" would suffice. no need to be so dramatic.
2. NOT feel incredulous that the highly annoying girl in my class (i shan't say which) is always hanging around that hot guy (man, what a pretty face and hot bod). i should just accept that there's a possibility that they are together and some guys can see beyond superficial looks. bless them.

I AM BORED! so i shall take a break from The Mentalist and do this:

yes i am very free. but life's cruel. when i'm very free, i can't get a job. harhar the little ironies of life.

TURN ON LIST 2007

1. well duh, personal hygiene is definitely a MUST?

2. and of course gentlemen are always greatly appreciated :)

3. nice build + height

nice height: i realised i have more leeway for height nowadays. 174-5 onwards is good enough, and i'm capping it at 181cm. anything more than that is a strain to my neck and bad for my posture and I DO NOT APPRECIATE IT. somemore i look like a friggin' dwarf. no thanks. hahaha.
nice build: yeah, just don't look skinnier than me. heehee.

4. long slender fingers don't care.

5. intellectual/shy
intellectual: oh HELL YEAH. i have a thing for guys who are good at quantitative stuff, so guys in accountancy, banking, engineering, sciences etc. for me please. ;) can't deal with guys who are arty farty. haha.
shy: COMPLETELY ENDEARING. oh my. shyness can be so charming yes?

6. musical don't need.

7. good sense of humour
.
must be of similar wavelength of course

8. lovely smile.
STILL such a MAJOR factor! i'm thoroughly charmed by guys with wide lovely smiles and small smiley eyes! yes, soft spot for small eyes! goshdarn cute!

9. fantastic singer rare. so i don't care.

10. dimples. as a bonus!

and new stuff

11. well-dressed/groomed guys.
severe lack of 'em in NBS, apparently. for some weird reason.
please don't turn up in your singlet and berms and slippers which are things you were obviously wearing in your hall room. shows a lack of respect towards other people, i should think.
a well-dressed dude is such a rare gem!

12. guys who can articulate properly and present themselves REASONABLY well.
i don't need a guy who's a fantastic presenter (in fact, wary of such people. silver-tongued. hahah) just somebody who can SPEAK PROPERLY such that he is universally understood.

13. nice deep CLEAR voices ;)
clear, being the operative word.
if i take eons to understand you, it's just plain annoying.

14. cheena-fied guys who watch english shows.
already win halfway. hahaha.

TURN ON LIST 2008-09

1. guys who smell good are ALWAYS a turn on

2. gentlemanly guys: immediately add 10 points.
what constitutes as gentlemanly? well, let's just say if you can't even do basic stuff like open the damn door for girls to enter/exit first, then you should just go kill yourself. we're not picky. that's all we ask for. bonus stuff would include: offering to carry heavy stuff (mol once offered to carry my handbag for me. and i'm using this as a positive example although at that point of time i glared at him and told him that guys are not allowed to carry their female friends/gfs handbags), offering to send us home (don't worry, we won't expect you to actually carry it out. the offer itself is appreciated enough) if not, ask us to drop you a sms when we reach home; letting us have the inside seat on the bus, letting us walk on the side of the sidewalk that is NOT next to the road etc etc ok you get my drift.

3. nice build+height
still stands: 175-181cm
please don't look skinnier than girls. that's just scary

4. intellectual/shy
intellectual: YES PLEASE. bonus points if you're in accountancy/banking/engineering/deanslistHAHA
BUT.. minus points if all you do is study and have no life. intellectual does not = mugger
shy: always endearing! but please do not go overboard and become boring

5. hilarious
now i'm going to go one level up from good sense of humour to actually being HILARIOUS. HAHA. because i've realised that having a good sense of humour and being hilarious can be mutually exclusive sometimes.

now sometime ago, some of us had a conversation about a similar topic as this, and one friend said that all she looked for in a guy was that "he made her laugh". and at that point of time i thought to myself that i would never be able to live with just that. because yes i can be horribly superficial and yesishouldjustgokillmyselfforthat (okok must at least be 顺眼 lar!). but recently i've come to realise that yes, some people can be just so funny and entertaining and their company can be just so enjoyable that you can overlook lots of things that you used to think that you would never be able to overlook. so YEAH. that was quite a paragraph of crap.

6. if you've got that pretty smile, i'm sold
if you got braces i add 20 pts. i'm so biased. HAHAHAHA.

7. well-dressed/groomed guys
well evidently that's quite rare, so i'm not going to care. girls like to play dressup anyway so we can do it for you ourselves. HA HA

8. charming
sorry i can't explain charm for you. you're either born with it or you're not. you can be a looker but not a charmer. and vice versa. i know guys who are so charming that i'm dazzled even though they're no lookers. HAHA. and similarly, i've been completely put to sleep by lookers.

9. guys who have a healthy mix of the angmoh and cheena cultures
either extreme is a big turnoff, although i am more forgiving towards guys who watch too much angmoh shows. 'cos i think seriously, nobody can beat me.
guys who follow (follow ah, not watch. i can forgive the occasional mistakes) taiwanese idol/korean dramas are a even bigger turnoff. THOSE ARE FOR GIRLS, NOT YOU, YOU PANSY.
if you watch HK dramas, add 20 pts. the biasedness is talking.

10. good grammar+language on MSN
you have no idea HOW RARE THIS IS. it seems that properly structured english sentences are impossible for some. please don't use words like lolx, lorz. ARE YOU AN AH LIAN? whats the point of adding 'z', 's', 'x' to the end of words?! and really, what's with ending your sentences with this ~~~~. WTF! and ease up on the emoticons buddy! i don't like having to click on that dancing animal to interpret what the heck you are trying to say!

11. bespectacled guys
because you look like you fulfil #4

12. good with kids
self-explanatory. HAHA.

i love how seah and i can completely crack each other up with our crazy imaginations. HAHAHA. sometimes i scare myself with the things i can come up with. HAHA.

my newest eye candy. simon baker you are so handsome!

some people are so self-centered, it's scary

i spent the last couple of hours reminiscing of childhood (and better) times with all my favourite oldies! and i cannot believe how many obscure bands and songs i actually remember! i obviously listened way too much 987fm for a normal pri school kid. hahaha.

spice girls, vengaboys, aqua, britney spears, 5ive.. and i bet i'm the only one who remembers E17, billie piper, get ready, and kavana. HAHA. FUNKY LOVE MWAHAHAHA.

and yes, i was a fan of SMAP as well. I HAD THEIR GREATEST HITS CD BELIEVE IT. IT COST 49.90. ok granted i didn't buy it, but STILL.

one of my favourite songs from them even though i had zero idea what the hell they were singing about. HAHAH. mol sweetie please translate for me :)

and obviously the reason for me listening to songs with lyrics that i dont have a clue about and from a band that i never even heard of previously was because i had the hugest crush on this fine male specimen

ahh. those were the days, weren't they? when britney spears was still mentioned in the same breath as christina aguilera, when we were belting along to songs from the vengaboys although (after taking a second listen today) their lyrics are completely inappropriate for 12 year old kids, when we could sing along to every single song of the backstreet boys and westlife (i still can, though), when all i knew about HK shows were their CID flicks (刑事偵緝檔案!!), when GTO and Beautiful Life and 长假 and 冠军大胃王 (OMG HOW I LOVED THAT SHOW!) were still on TV instead of the endless number of korean sobfests they have today..

I MISS THOSE DAYS!

that's it.

I AM SICK SICK SICK OF TRYING TO HUNT FOR JOBS. I AM NOT EVEN LOOKING FOR A FULL TIME JOB. I AM MERELY LOOKING FOR PART TIME JOBS TO FUND THE EUROPE TRIP AND EVERY SINGLE THING IS GETTING IN MY WAY.

I AM SICK OF SENDING OUT MY RESUMES TO STUPID COMPANIES WHO DON'T EVEN DESERVE IT.

I AM SICK OF WAITING FOR PHONE CALLS EVERY SINGLE DAY, JUST SO I COULD HAVE THAT FAINT GLIMMER OF HOPE THAT I WOULD PERHAPS GET A PART TIME JOB SO I WILL HAVE MONEY FOR EUROPE. AND EVERY SINGLE DAY THE HOPE DIES A LITTLE BECAUSE EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT PASSES BY REPRESENTS ONE LESS DAY I HAVE LEFT TO SOMEHOW DIG UP THAT SUM OF MONEY.

I AM SICK OF LOOKING THROUGH THE FRIGGIN JOB SITES (YES, IN PLURAL) EVERY EVERY SINGLE DAY SO I CAN FIND A SUITABLE JOB TO SEND RESUMES TOO (WHICH, EVEN IF I DO FIND, DOESNT MATTER ANYWAY BECAUSE I'M SO APPARENTLY UNDESIRED BY COMPANIES)

I AM SO FRIGGIN CURSED. EVEN THE FRIGGIN SCHOOL DOESNT WANT TO HELP ME ANYMORE. IT'S SO HILARIOUS BECAUSE EVEN THE GOVT ISNT HELPING WITH THE GSTOFFSET PACKAGE - I AM GETTING LESSER THAN EVERYONE ELSE ALTHOUGH I PROBABLY NEED IT MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE RIGHT NOW.

I AM SO FRIGGIN SICK OF ALL THESE SHIT. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF FEELING FRUSTRATED EVERY DAY. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BEING BURDENED BY ALL THESE WHEN I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT LIKE MY FYP. I AM SICK OF WAKING UP EVERYDAY AND HAVING MY FIRST THOUGHTS REVOLVE AROUND "HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO FIND MONEY FOR MY EUROPE TRIP". I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED.

IT SEEMS LIKE, THE MORE I WANT THINGS, THE MORE FATE LIKES TO PLAY AROUND WITH ME. SO FROM TODAY ONWARDS, I AINT GIVING A SHIT NOMORE. I DONT WANT ANYTHING, ANYONE, ANYSHIT.

SCREW ALL THIS.

reuters - Wall Street bank executives felt the rage of Democrats and Republicans in the U.S. Congress on Wednesday over how they used $176 billion in bailout money without making a noticeable impact on the anemic economy.

Lawmakers seized the opportunity presented by a congressional committee hearing on the troubled bailout program to grill eight bank CEOs and vent rising public anger over the economic crisis.

Questions abound about what the banks have done with the money, given an ongoing credit crisis that has added to the country's deteriorating economy. The hearing came a day after Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner failed to inspire market confidence over the government's financial bailout plans and sent stock markets plunging.

"We have a hard-earned reputation for frugality, not extravagance," said Ken Lewis, CEO of Bank of America. "Taxpayers have invested in our company, and they deserve to know what return they are making on their investment and when it will be paid back."

Toward that end, Lewis said, he and other top bank managers went without bonuses for 2008, while less-senior executives had their 2008 incentive payments cut by an average of 80 percent.

The chief executives each read a prepared statement arguing that their institutions used taxpayer funds responsibly.

thurs 12 feb

WASHINGTON (AFP) - - Merrill Lynch quietly paid out at least one million dollars bonus each to about 700 top executive even when the investment house was bleeding with losses last year, a probe has revealed.

They were part of 3.6 billion dollars in the firm's bonus payments in December before the announcement of its fourth quarterly losses and takeover by Bank of America, the investigation by the New York state Attorney General's office showed.

.

.

.

"Merrill Lynch's decision to secretly and prematurely award approximately 3.6 billion dollars in bonuses, and Bank of America's apparent complicity in it, raise serious and disturbing questions," he said.

.

.

Former Merrill Lynch chief executive John Thain, Bank of America chief administrative officer J. Steele Alphin and other top executives have been summoned to provide testimony in the probe.

"One disturbing question that must be answered is whether Merrill Lynch and Bank of America timed the bonuses in such a way as to force taxpayers to pay for them through the deal funding," Cuomo said.

UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE.

craig ferguson (on obama's cap of wall street CEOs' salaries at 500k a year): "for most of these wall street clowns, 500k is a huge paycut. some of these people were making hundreds of millions every year. they say that these huge salaries were justified because it took alot of hard work to drive these magnificent companies into the ground. but, these aren't just run of the mill executives we're talking about, these guys are the creme of the crap, and they may have a point! because aaaaaaaaaaaaaanybody can make stupid decisions and reduce a bank's capital to zero, but it takes a real genius to go past zero and end up billions of dollars in debt!"

jon stewart (on wall street's negative response towards the 1trillion dollar bailout): "let me get this straight. wall street doesn't like the particulars of the bailout, of wall street. oh you don't like the particulars of how the trillion dollars would be distributed to YOU. the trillion dollars we're giving you to replace the, oh, i don't know, the trillion or so dollars you lost. let me briefly explain to you the rescuer-rescuee relationship. YOU, my friends, are in the drowning position, so i would suggest, you don't complain about whether or not you get a window seat on the rescue boat. 'cos by the way, what the f*** are you doing in the water anyway?! you know, you are not innocent victims of a geese driveby, you're the dick that thinks it's funny to go parasailing during a hurricane, and the thing about guys like these? they never have insurance."

what a magical equation :)
so really, i welcome you with open arms to piss me off as often as you like. it seems that the more you piss me off, the better luck i get on the other side.

it was sean's 21st on saturday! and since i seem to be the only vjco senior invited (william: "i thought you and seah come as a package??" me: "yeah but to sean we don't come as a package leh") i went with william because jj WAS MIA-ing AGAIN!! haha.
now sean's one of the sweetest people i know, and has always been incredibly nice to me, so much so that i felt that i HAD to go even though i knew half the people there were going to be from VS (and therefore william may ignore me) and the other half would be from army. but well, it turned out pretty fine

sean!

after dinner the vjco people hid in sean's room and played with his PS2

yes, the world is very small. spot the two dunman people behind. hahah.

after all the laughter with Celebrity Deathmatch and Fifa, it was time for Fatal Frame

HAHAHA man this picture is HILARIOUS. sean took it at the very moment when a ghost popped up into the screen and we were all screaming. i was obviously hiding behind all of them. hahaha. now, don't think that this is the actual lighting of the room

THIS was the actual lighting of the room!! OMG WILLIAM LOOKS HEADLESS :S

the juniors

jie ren!

anyway it was a terrible day. may the rest of the week be much better.

yesterday we played Fatal Frame at my junior's house and IT WAS FREAKY, but terribly fascinating in a sick way.we switched off all the lights in the room and sat on the bed, and soon it was all "OMG GOT GHOST!!!" and "THERE! THERE!! SHOOT THE GHOST!!!" and "NO LAR THAT WASN'T A GHOST!" and "DONT WASTE FILM!!!" hahaha. we didn't get to finish the game so right now i'm watching clips of it on youtube. HAHA.

this shit is DISTURBING!
think dark claustrophobic corners, barely audible background music with just sounds of wind and what resembles ghostly whispers, the entire setting in black and white. you, the protagonist with just a torchlight and a camera as defence against the ghosts in the mansion. EW! i wont ever dare to play stuff like that so let someone else do it while i hide behind them/the computer screen and scare the crap out of myself. as my junior put it so aptly: "if play alone at night really will chua sai"

5 more random things:

26. i read wikipedia for plots of horror/gore movies because i will never ever be able to muster up the courage to watch them

an excellent example. fascinating plot though.

27. i am actually online on msn most of the time. when i'm at home and not out, i will be online. i just don't see the point of appearing online because well, if i want to talk to my friends, i will message them regardless whether i'm appearing online or not. haha. or you can say i'm just lazy

28. i am indeed very lazy. very very unbelievably lazy. my mom often says my room is more like a guy's room. i usually ignore her 'cos i'm too lazy. haha

29. and i think i have attention deficient disorder. i cannot stay on one webpage for more than 2 mins. that's why i have like 10 tabs on a single page

30. and that's why i took 45 minutes to type these 5 points

alright back to more interesting stuff. i have a backlog of photos so here goes:

nye at my aunt's house. if you can see, i have a very pretty cousin whom i think looks like kristin stewart. hahaha. yes the one otherwise known as bella cullen

cny eve. dinner unfortunately wasn't at my aunt's lovely house as per tradition but instead at some dingy seafood restaurant near vivo. alright no complaints about the food. and then it was countdown at another aunt's newly renovated house. you will not believe what renovations can do to a supposedly run down flat in tanglin. it looks like a friggin' condo apartment!

cny day 1 dinner at my house. home made yu sheng + sharks' fin. YUMMM. look at the kickass-sized abalone from the picture above!
and that's all the pictures i took because i was too lazy.

monday we sent shuxian off at the airport. lucky girl going over to switzerland! i will see you on 9th may! :)

wednesday was jj's belated birthday dinner at where-else-but-nihon-mura-and-cartel

we forgot to take pictures inside so we had to resort to taking one outside haha

25 random things

1. i am incredibly pissed because i'm actually typing this for the 2nd time because blogger didn't save my post the first time

2. and also i don't want to do this on facebook because as you all SHOULD know by now, facebook is 万能and i am the facebook queen and hence i am 万能. THERE ARE NO SECRETS ON FACEBOOK BWAHAHA. man i love facebook

3. i cannot remember half the things i typed the first time round

4. i think that my dunman years were the best time of my life and all my dunman friends, regardless of when i know them, are the bestest people i'd ever know :) there are of course, exceptions (ie. dunman people turning out to be douchebags years later and wonderful nondunman friends i've known from jc and uni)

5. i watch way too much hollywood crap for my own good. i have, on average, 7-8 shows to catch up on every week and that's not counting all the talk shows. and i'm constantly on the lookout for new and interesting shows to watch on days when there are no new updates on the shows i'm following

6. case in point example 1: i've watched all the seasons of Friends at least 6 times, and seasons 6-10 at least 10 times. it's the best damn sitcom of all time and it never ever gets old! i still laugh my head off even though i can probably recite the dialogue along with the characters

7. case in point example 2: i watched all nine seasons of CSI in two months. woohoo

8. and as a result of all these watching, my body clock has come to recognise 3am as normal bedtime.

9. when i'm really really really bored, i can continually refresh blogs just to see whether they've updated

10. i have way too many clothes, and yet i'm never satisfied by what i have. i blame it on online shopping. it is evil.

very nice right? i wanna buy!

11. i realised today during bm324 seminar that i have never ever taken budget airlines, and i don't intend ever to (unless i'm going to bangkok. anywhere that requires more that 3 hours to reach i'd rather pay to have the leg space)

i am not cattle. i will not travel like this.

12. the longest airplane ride i've ever taken was 6 hours to japan. in less than 3 months i will have a taste of twice of that :D

13. i have a thing for old charismatic guys: hugh laurie, jon stewart, craig ferguson. YUM.

14. gimme dark haired, dark eyed hunks like jake gyllenhaal and christian bale over your typical blond hair blue eyed guys like brad pitt and chad michael murray, any day!

15. i loathe maths with a vengeance. my brain is not compatible with numbers and it starts to malfunction the moment i try to process any.

16. i also hate the Lousiest Excuse for A Tutor Chung Tuck Siong. (his name in full because hopefully he will see this when he googles for his next course outline. oh sorry what course outline. as if nbs still wants him to teach.). me and the 305 girls are convinced that he is an evil doer sent by his alma mater in hopes of crushing nbs with the crap he teaches. they must be really disappointed now. HAHA

behold, the Plagariser (luckily cannot see his face)

17. i am also convinced that people from CTS's alma mater are evil, scheming, superficial, two-faced douchebags

18. i am terrified of cockroaches and beetles because they like me and they always come a-flyin' towards me

19. when i crave a certain food, i MUST get it asap if not i would be PMS-ing the entire day

20. if i have a sore eye, i would rather stay home than going out with my specs. i have not been out of the house with my specs since sec 4 except for the time i had a sore eye and had to go to the doctor

21. the most exotic location that i've heard so far for a grad trip is peru+colombia and i am extremely impressed by my friend who's going there by himself. hahaha

22. if i won the $10million lottery i will cancel all our europe hotel reservations and book all of us into the best hotels (i pay, of course) and upgrade all our train and plane tickets. i will also pay for joseph to come along with us as our bodyguard. HAHA.

23. and after coming back from europe i will book a second trip to US where i will stay one week in LA and another in NYC, just so i can catch a week of tapings of The Daily Show and The Late Late Show.

24. i have zero tolerance for people who have bad english and blog like they're directly translating whatever they want to say from chinese into english. jingying and i like to laugh at the blog of this particular person because her command of english is hilarious

25. now that i've done this here, NO NEED TO TAG ME IN FACEBOOK!
