problem: to maximise the odds that a guy with these qualities exist

let G = good looks
H= good sense of humour
HT= height
B= build
C= good character

on a index of 1 to 10. 1 being the least important.

max G+H+HT+B+C
subject to

H > 8
HT = 10
G > 6 (i am not superficial see? HAHA)
B > 7
C > 8

using Management Scientist, the solution to the linear program is UNBOUNDED! meaning that there is no optimal solution to the problem because the objective function can be made infintely large

THEREFORE.

since such a guy is also known as Prince Charming, and there is no optimal solution to the question of whether such a guy really exists

THEREFORE

prince charming does not exist!

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Linear programming ROCKS!! (cmon jiayin. AGREE WITH ME!)

erm. please don't try to analyse the question. it's a whole load of rubbish, and i know it.

i just finished my (overdue) stats tutorial, and my part for the stats case study.
i haven't quite had this sense of accomplishment since.. since a pretty long time ago, actually.

my sympathies to the group presenting the case study for stats next week.
i think we wanted to rip apart the question paper just now in school.

but. we had help :D -evil chuckle-
so we ended up laughing quite hard at what we were doing.

hello, little children. here's a piece of good advice, so listen up good.
do not get yourself addicted to weepy korean dramas and fairy-tale taiwanese idol dramas.
PLEASE DON'T.
because you may very well end up getting brainwashed like some people i know. -smirks- and live in your own fantasy world.
not very healthy.
not only is it hazardous to your mental health, you are also providing me with a chance to make fun of you. heh.

wa lau. prince what charming lar. NO SUCH THINGS!
(ahem. although if you can find me one, i may change my mind HEHE)

seah you HAVE to go look at that thing.
PLEASE. then i won't be the only one traumatised by it.

oh gawd. it's so cringe-worthy funny that it was almost horrifying! :(

hm. makes you wonder : naivety or cynicism?

P.S the weather is chilly outside. dark clouds are beckoning, a storm is nearing.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. COULDN'T RESIST!!

alright.
to save myself from wasting time during the week watching Devil By My Side, i decided to finish it all at one go yesterday.
and i did. 12 episodes in about 8 hours.
not bad lar. now i don't need to spend any more time on it, and then maybe my stats tutorials would finally be done :)

well, in between the cheesy dialogue, the substandard acting, and the cringe-worthy, unrealistic characters (where got people go around giving people ferrero rocher and tells them it's "because i think you're nice", or is so benelovent that they can forgive the person for attempting to snatch their boyfriends, or, or people who go around putting blame on themselves for everything that goes wrong to anybody around them??)
but i gotta say,
I LOVED THE SHOW!!
hahahahaha. i know i shouldnt have said i'd never watch stupid taiwanese idol dramas.
of course, we all know it's just fluff, but who can resist indulging in unrealistic fairytale-like fantasies once in a while?
and rainie yang, despite her not-so-fantastic acting, is extremely likeable. i will give credit when credit is due.
and yeah. that male lead is yummy too :D

oh. CUTE. (cham liao. why now my turn to be attracted to these taiwanese idols?? next thing you'd know i'd be going 5566 concerts or something. SORRY SEAH! hahaha)

oh but of course. if you're the type who would be affected by such shows, i suggest NOT watching it because it will give you unrealistic expectations
we all know that bad-boy-good-looking, kind-hearted and romantic, these three qualities, will NEVER go together, except in taiwanese idol dramas :)

i could be wrong.
intro to me hor, if you know anyone with those three qualities. heh.

yummy jonny :) too bad i think hady's going to win. :(

the tradition started 5 years ago in sec2.

it was dhs tradition to celebrate the mid-autumn's festival on one night, and everybody, whether you liked it or not, had to turn up for the celebrations
(which mainly involved watching teachers entertaining themselves on the karaoke sets, playing silly treasure games in the dark where sometimes there would be spooky sightings and weird happenings, but then that's another story altogether)
being sec2s, we have already developed a semi-rebellious streak (but not very smart also la. the sec3s wouldnt even have bothered turning up for the celebrations. got parents' letter, scared what!)
for that very year, 2001, we decided that we're NOT going to stay for the celebrations and be bored to tears. YES. we're going to sneak out of school (heavily guarded by prefects) and gloat happily at all the other suckers still stuck in school!

so while all the students were in the hall watching some half-hearted concert, we were already planning our Great Escape in the foyer.
climb the walls? nah. impossible. the walls were not as low as vj's. and most of us are girls la.
call taxi in? got about 10 of us. that would be way to expensive.
just when we were about to be pissed about the lack of ideas we have (and time was ticking by, mind you!), somebody came up with the brilliant idea of sneaking out through the hostel. (which was then newly built)
so me, ah fai and julyn (i think! i cant remember!) were sent to test the situation. (oh we were so cute)
the plan was to bank on the fact that the security guard was new and probably had no idea about the regulations about that night, and walk out nonchalantly. (i know, not much of a plan too. we were sec2s!)
well we tried indeed. the good news was that, the guard indeed didn't know about the regulations, and ah fai really managed to walk out suavely (HAHAHA). unfortunately, when one whole big group of us wanted to walk out, any moron would know that there was something fishy going on, and he shut the gate on us.
BASTARD! :(

in the end, the only advantage we had over the other people who dutifully attended the concert was that we were at the gates and could be the first ones to leave the school when we were released :(

but our moods weren't dampened, and we decided to head over to airport for some dinner. (how on earth we came to that decision, i cannot remember. we were cool sec 2s!)
while we were having food at sakae and laughing our great escapade, some brilliant soul suggested making this a tradition.
and therefore you have it: come mid-autumn festival every year, we would attempt to sneak out of dhs and chiong to the sakae at the airport for dinner.

well, the sneaking out part never happened again (because in sec3 poor people like me had to stay in school for CO responsibilities! and sec4s weren't required to attend the celebrations)
but (save for last year where everybody only had "MUGGING" on their minds) we remained true to the dinner part! :)

yes, we're pretty amazing.

of course, the group only consisted of the bigger cliques in class, and over the years, we lost a few who never bothered to turn up again.
but yesterday, the group that showed, was the group that you would always see at all 2j gatherings and chalets

jia and i. we can be VERY bitchy when given the mood. HAHA

the 4E girls :) we didn't like our maths and sec3 geog teacher! -COUGH-

ah ber :)

my oldest pal ah fai!

hehe. there's something quite wrong with us trying to act cute.

LOOK AT LAU! HAHAHAHAHA

enqi! that would be dr teo for you.

i feel like a buffalo next to miss plant HAHA.

the CO peeps. WE CANNOT STOP GOSSIPING!

I LOVE THEM! :)

anyway gotta run. meeting up with the vjco people. YAY!

oh, what a nasty song with mean lyrics!

I was so lost back then
But with a little help from my friends
I found a light in the tunnel at the end
Now you're calling me up on the phone
So you can have a little whine and a moan
And it's only because you're feeling alone

At first when I see you cry,
yeah it makes me smile, yeah it makes my smile
At worst I feel bad for a while,
but then I just smile I go ahead and smile

hahahha.

there are times when i actually enjoy doing marketing tutorial questions.
especially so today when it's about TIFFANY n CO.!

oh my goodness.
you know i never could fathom why women could go gaga over that little blue box.
but today. I WAS ENLIGHTENED!
if you, like me, have never seen those gorgeous diamonds upclose before
you will never understand the feeling of seeing it for the first time

woah. i swear my heart stop beating for a couple of seconds after seeing some of those pictures!

let me present to you, a girl's best friend!

tell me, which girl can ever resist those??

diamonds are a girl's best friend indeed :D

bahh. All you guys out that will never understand it.
like those two stupid guys in my marketing group. they were practically guffawing at me looking at the diamonds with starry eyes. :( NEVER MIND!

like i said, it's a girl thing :)

Ah. Indulgences indulgences

But stupid William had to go spoil it all la.

William: "do you know that somewhere in Europe, they are researching to use cow refuse to make diamonds?"
Williams: "they are exactly the same quality somemore!"
Me: "........"
Me: "yeah right. I think nobody wants to buy lah"
William: "it's 10% of the price leh. sorry lor. got people buy. i remember there was quite a big hoohah then"
Me: "yeah. but still. the upmarket people will never touch it"
William: "the technology haven't succeeded though, but sometimes can fake through"
Me: "WAHAHAHHAHA. so means sometimes you get cow shit instead of diamonds?????"
William: "no lah"
William: "it just means that sometimes you get smelly diamonds"

HAHAHAHAHHAA. typical.

i miss the days in vj where we actually looked forward to PE lessons and enjoyed exercise.
so what if we had crazy circuit trainings and had to run 2.4? we got to play volleyball, softball yadayada and all that.
and most importantly, we were being healthy. (and we didn't have to feel so bad about gorging on western food after that)
and there's just something about the school culture that makes people wanna throw on their PE shirts and go for a run, for fun, mind you! after school.
and when you see too much of all these health advocates around, you can't help but be swept up by the whole healthy-livin'-lifestyle.

-grins- i still remember the days where i would go for a run with either mandy, jingying or sianghan.
most of the times after school, but once even during a free period in the day.
and the couple of weeks where cindy and i would go spinning on the stationary bikes outside the PE dept religiously every day.
and the many attempts by jamie and i to cut down on western food and eat more apples. heh heh.
for a period of time i was so in on this whole lifestyle that i once proclaimed loudly to mj that i would stay in school to mug everyday until 6 and thereafter go for a run to ECP.
i think mj replied along the lines of "being unrealistic" and mumbled something about "wasting time" and "at most last a week" :(
which was true, but never mind.

it just serves to remind me that i'm leading a most unhealthy lifestyle right now.

but hey, if i can't go for a run after school, i jolly well walk around as much as i can, eh?

so, instead of walking to the bus stop nearest to NBS, i will be walking over to the one at the engineering schools opposite NIE.
which is about a 5 to 10mins walk. doesn't seem like much exercise, but when you throw in that darned long flight of stairs, it can be considered as mild exercise la hor!
it's a win-win situation, really. i can be healthy (or at least think i am being) and check out any cute engine guys. HAHA.

anyway i'm off. watch holland v :)

i'm making up for all the lost hours of sleep of the past week today.
my brain now feels like cotton wool.

let me tell you something that had me gaping at the incredulity of it

some random friend: "so.. are you attached now?"
me: "no. unfortunately"
some random friend: "why not? ntu got so many guys"

!!! THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST RETARDED REASON ANYONE CAN GIVE FOR BEING ATTACHED!!

"oh so are you attached now?
"oh yes! ntu got so many guys what. 不attach 白不attach!"

i think i replied something along the lines of vj and dhs also has a lot of guys and snidely said that i'm not desperate. (yeah. hence serving a double-edged comment)
GOOD GRIEF!
well. this coming from a person who would probably (and i'm not kidding) wither and die if he wasn't attached, i'm not too worried.
i'm still laughing at the retardedness of it all.

why? what do you think? because there are SO MANY GUYS in the school i should just swop down, grab any random one JUST SO to make full use of the resources????

it boggles the mind, indeed. the level of intelligence some people possess.

oh i got a tagboard too :)
yes i have finally realised how troublesome it can be when you want to reply to something that the person has written yet it's not important enough to sms him/her.
i hear you, lyd and yuexin!
haha.

went kbox (finally!) on friday with some of the stats class peeps.
haha. i say they were way too nice with their compliments. 不敢当!
but it was really fun. everybody should go kbox for bonding sessions, i say!
now i'm looking forward to meeting up with lyd, seah and the vs jrs.
was telling william that they are seriously the best few guy singers i know.
no offence to anybody else of course, because they are REALLY GOOD! (except when they decide to hog the mikes, i change my mind)
william reckoned that the 6 of us could go form the 179 club + 6 flowers. HAHAHAHA. ok you would have to be there for it to be funny.

anyway jiayun the s22 resident brainy babe has flown off to LSE.
take care! and keep a lookout for all the dishy british guys :)

it's almost embarrassing to admit this, but i'm now officially a fan of that taiwanese idol drama Devil By My Side. (er. or whatever)
I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE SUCKERED IN BY LAME TAIWANESE DRAMA PLOTS!
but it's a good good show. if so many guys can be telling you that they love the show, i think there's no harm giving it a shot.
anyway it's good. have i said that already?
i watched it til episode 6 til 3am on friday. i think if i start watching now, i will be dead by monday. heh heh.
yes there have been nothing but rave reviews for this show. stop being stubborn mules and go watch it. i know you want to, everybody are hopeless romantics. HAHAH.

a most unproductive day of mugging at the airport today. (i cannot believe i'm actually mugging. it is but only the 2nd month of uni life!)
because the guys were WAY TOO NOISY! and linear programming was siao. either i'm really completely hopeless at maths, or it's just a dumb topic.
ARGH. to hell with stats. i will continue to be diligent with my marketing readings.

dont be too bored with this entry.
it's just that i'm typing on my laptop now and it's really quite fun, so i'm finding nonsensical stuff to type. HAHA!

pulse was really, really bad. can fight with The Nun sia!
yes, so don't bother wasting your money on it, unless you want a good laugh.
it's actually quite funny, come to think of it.
heh heh.
the show was only saved by the hunky Ian Somerhalder, otherwise better known as Boone-who-got-axed-in-the-first-season-of-Lost.

tired la. be back.

wa lau. my dark eye circles are getting worse. no thanks to all the late nights pulled to complete that darned marketing case study!

anyway went to watch singapore dreaming with dee yesterday. it was a law school thingy. and my, lots of cute law school guys! i've always been fascinated by guys who can speak and write english so damn well. because i'm surrounded by a bunch of chao cheenas. HAHA. but i prefer that of course. because i'm one myself :)

right i'm talking rot. off to watch pulse (horror movie, mind you!) with good ol' seah! i so deserve this break.

i saw one of my tutorial mates on my way home today, a couple of hours after the tutorial ended. (i was doing, what else? marketing case study)

me: "hey! why you still here?"
him: "ah. waiting for my friend.."

-pauses-

him: (shyly): "waiting for my girlfriend"

WAH. I AM SUPER IMPRESSED!
in days where all i hear are things like
"oh i dumped my girlfriend for a chio-er girl who-is-prom-queen/this-queen/that-queen-material"
where relationships don't seem to be able to withstand distance/time/lust/infatuation (-rolls eyes-)
these simple things which a guy does for his girlfriend
IS VERY HEARTENING TO HEAR.

right. i realised that i've become easily impressed by seemingly insignificant things.
woah. has my mindset already been reduced to this. WHY?

hitched a ride with yx+cousin today.
three dunmanians = we were laughing like mad throughout the journey.
heh. we should do this more often! ;)

eh i actually like this photo. AH MOL WE LOOK GOOD!

(sorry lar. 'cos william made me do this test which revealed that i, apparently have very low self-esteem, so i have to make up for the low self-esteem by being very narcissistic. please bear with it.)

no thanks to certain people.

haha i just realised i contradicted myself. low self-esteem/narcissistic. oxymoronic.

it apparently is the norm for people nowadays to break up with their gf/bf whom they have been together with probably, oh, just a couple of years, to be with a new girl/guy whom they have just met not more than a month ago.
too, too, too many examples. there's either something really wrong here, or i have to change my mindset.
i am, of course, assuming that the couple previously had no problems with each other and were happy together.
still too many examples.
even more disgusting are perhaps the guys who break up with their girlfriends, after their girlfriends have waited for them throughout their two years in NS. wah, see some chiobu then don't want the girlfriend liao lah.
if chio still can understand, if not chio at all then i have nothing to say.

yes i have examples lah. everytime i hear another one, i'd think, not bloody again!

why so easy? then have you ever really liked your gf/bf in the first place?

being with my stats class people is like going back to dunman again. WOOSH!
i love the feeling it gives me.
i guess i have been greatly deprived the past two years (in my school where people discriminate against people who are -ahem- effectively billingual. OK LAR I WILL NOT REPEAT THIS ANYMORE)
but when was the last time i sat at a table full of non-dunman people (all but two of us) and ALL OF THEM are yakking away in chinese??

maybe this is the norm at NTU. GOOD.

oh and there's this guy who not only sounds like chinyong, but actually TALKS like chinyong. HAHAHAHAHA!

was reading the march 2005 entries. (yes when i'm bored and free i do boliao things such as this.)
i saw this particular entry after we went to the NUS open house. this particular line

NTU mass comm: i want to write. but i don't like NTU. full-stop. but hey.
i always have to eat my words

wahaha! i am eating my words now. i just gushed to my sister about how i love my school compounds (yah lah. i know i am always repeating myself. maybe i should stop blogging for a few days :()when a couple of years back i told everybody i didnt like it. heh.

ok i will stop. i am boring.

wow i lurve hady and jonathan!

occasionally, i get weird thoughts such as

what if i had gone to FASS?
what if SCI didn't reject me?

about 3 seconds later, i'd be thanking the gods that i didn't actually go to FASS, and SCI did indeed reject me.

because, have you actually seen the language standard of these people???!
(for example. lydia lin. i will NOT READ your blog anymore. it makes everybody else's blogs look like they have been written by 5-year-olds. it's terribly distressing :(. was that actually an essay or a thesis??)
it only serves to remind me that
i'm only good at writing rubbish that makes sense.
so oxymoronic, wont' you agree?

oh what am i saying.
i'm just procrastinating because i don't want to study Stupid Statistics.
hehheh.
Stupid Statistics.
Malicious Marketing.
heh heh.

yah lah. still procrastinating.

what a lousy day.
i have effectively done nothing but sleep, save for the few chapters of marketing. (the only module i'd voluntarily study, as i tell everybody)
i blame it on my cough medicine.
i woke up at 11, ate breakfast and medicine, went back to sleep until 2. woke up for lunch, ate my medicine, moped around (and sulked a little because the vjco gathering was canceled. NOW I GOT NO REASON TO NOT DO MY WORK!! :() went back to sleep UNTIL 7!! (i am a pig. currently i feel fat and sick. fantastic yes?)
now i can't bring myself to take the medicine again because i know then my stats tutorial would be neglected and i'd die on wednesday.

oh woe is me.

wow. i am getting old.

i made a switch back to 987fm for the first time in like, what, 3 years?
and i got a headache after about 1/2 an hour.
i must have been echoing my mother when i thought to myself
'jeez. they call this music??'

oh no. i can imagine jiayin shaking her head at me and saying loudly "HOTEL CALIFORNIA AH?" while grinning happily. STOP IT!!

how sad. i used to be at the cutting edge of the-world-of-what's-in-and-what's-not-music.
i would know a new song the moment it comes out on radio.
hell, i would even have listened to it so much i know the lyrics!
but now.. looking at this list of Top 10 hits on 987fm

1 Unfaithful -- Rihanna
2 I Write Sins Not Tragedies -- Panic! At The Disco
3 Buttons -- Pussycat Dolls featuring Snoop Dogg
4 Promiscuous -- Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland
5 Boston -- Augustana
6 make damnsure -- taking back sunday
7 Gimme That -- Chris Brown featuring Lil' Wayne
8 hate me -- blue october
9 steady as she goes -- The Raconteurs
10 wish i was a punkrocker -- sandi thom

i.. i..
i know only 3 out of the 10 artistes!!! and out of that 3 songs, i have only heard 2. because they have been advertising on the telly. :(

what kind of a name is Panic! At the Disco anyway.

reminds me of kung!bushmen.

like i was saying to jiayi today,
sometimes girls just have the urge to bitch.
that person may be your friend, but he or she may have done something you may not agree with, and you just need to say something about it.
and not that you have anything against him or her.

but of course, when that person is not your friend. WHO GIVES A SHIT! :D
heh heh. sometimes it's hard trying to control my tongue, really.

oh. note of advice, bitching may also be a good way to test if the person you're bitching to is indeed trusthworthy. -smirks- we shall see.

it has been a long and exhausting week
(eh. very familiar. i think i'm saying this for the third time)
coupled with the twin powers of flu and projects,
there you have it. a very sick and tired me. show some pity please.

if you, if you could get by trying not to lie
things wouldn't be so confused, and i wouldn't feel so used
but you always really knew, i just wanna be with you

and i'm in so deep, you know i'm such a fool for you
you got me wrapped around your finger
do you have to let it
linger?

this shall be a long and muggified weekend.
