Okay, so I don't often talk about work since I'm a nice considerate person who doesn't want to bore everybody else with talk of my work although my work is so interesting everybody should listen to me talk about it. But the series of events that happened over the last week infuriated me so much I just have to talk about it.

Now, the one thing that I love about my job is that I get to go for events. Who doesn't? I get to get out of the office, sometimes I get freebies (I ADORE product launches), and most importantly, I get treated like royalty the PR people are nice to me. And trust me when you've had months and months of groveling to media bitches, it's such a thrill to be on the receiving end of groveling. Of course, I'm a very nice person. :)

Anywhooo, I had two events last week. One was high tea at Resort World, organized by a luxury fashion group, and another was a eye makeup workshop at Sephora. Any guesses at which event we were treated like, or a lack of a better choice of words, shit? Let's just say, it was the first time that I went for an event where I was made to stand for two whole hours (and in my heels. I wanted to slap the PR person in the face with my heels at the end of it), no goodie bag was given to me (and you expect me to write nice stuff for your client? HAHAHAHA.. yeah not going to happen. Okay maybe I will, but you are going to get shit for it) and THERE WAS NO PRESS RELEASE GIVEN TO ME.

Look, I was only in PR for about 4 months, and even I know that the FIRST rule of PR is that YOU. DO. NOT. PISS. OFF. THE. MEDIA. I don't care how insignificant we are compared to The Straits Times or whatever, YOU JUST DON'T. I'm not being bitchy. It's just how PR works. That was why I was made to grovel even when some media were absolute bitches. PR sucks, deal with it. And I'm not even expecting you to bow down or something, because I don't, but hello? Could I at least have a chair to sit down and not made to stand throughout the demonstration? And second of all, whatever possessed you to think that not printing press releases was a good idea?! If you're not going to give me your client's information, I'm either going to make shit up, or I'm going to wiki them and then copy and paste shit. Your loss. I really don't care.  And OMG THAT ATTITUDE. URGH!

Ok I'm done complaining. I will now channel my rage into writing a sarcastic review. I cannot wait.

Honestly. What a shocking contrast to the delightful treatment we got at the high tea other event. That wasn't handled by a PR company. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why a PR company can do such a shiteous job at handling an event compared to the event carried out by just the marketing manager. Ridiculous.

What I Am Currently Hankering After

1. iPod Classic 160gb - because my 4gb one can no longer handle the amount of Adam Lambert videos I'm trying to squeeze into it. Currently my iPod has 17mb worth of space left, and only 10% of the videos I have in my laptop. It's tragic.

And seriously. $288 for a 16gb iPod nano, $388 for a 160gb iPod classic. I don't know why there's even need to be consideration. I'd never need another iPod ever again!

2. ALDO black pumps - HOW GORGEOUS ARE THEY?! And incredibly comfy too. Every girl needs a pair of Aldo shoes, this is my logic and I'm sticking to it.

3. Urban Decay eye makeup - I am completely in LOVE with the gel eyeliner. It stays on the whole day and doesn't budge the slightest unlike stupid Lancome's which smudges after half a day -_- The liquid eyeliner is awesome too and their eyeshadows have GLITTTERRRRRRR ♥♥♥

Do I actually need any more eye makeup? No I don't. But with packaging like this, who can resist it? (certainly not somebody with a complete lack of willpower)

4. The usual blogshop clothes - I'M INCORRIGIBLE

So am I screwed? Why yes, yes I am.

PART 2 OF 2 OF THE "WHY MARCH 12 AND 13 ARE NOW ADAM LAMBERT DAYS SORRY MINGJIE I KNOW IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY THOUGH BUT STILL" RECAP

Okay I will admit it, before this whole thing I didn't actually know how many fans Adam had in Singapore. I thought it was mainly just Lyd and me (ha ha) and a handful of others. Not that I didn't think highly of him (a handful is still two handfuls and half more than what Kris Allen has), but because Singaporeans have shiteous more oriental tastes in music. When people start screaming and fainting over Korean stars who look like they've been cut from the same plastic surgeon mold, and paying a few thousand (hundred, thousands, whatever. It's still a million times more than what I would pay) bucks to watch Fei Lun Hai in concert, one would have the impression that there's an extremely limited English music market here.

I AM NOW VERY SORRY FOR THINKING THAT.

Perhaps I should have taken the album going Gold as an indication. That would be 7.5k copies sold, and that's before taking into consideration the sales from the deluxe album. But there I was, thinking naively, "oh probably only about 500 are really intense. It'd be safe to go for the autograph session".

LOL. SORRY ABOUT MY LIFE. (and if you happened to be at Bugis last Saturday by chance you'd probably have been sorry about your life too)

I will spare you all the details about what went down, but basically I can tell you by the time 4pm rolled around there were more than a thousand people squeezed at the fucking tiny Bugis Square. It was hot and humid as hell, and also drizzling. Absolutely the best kind of weather to turn people away, yet more than a thousand people waited it out. Before you think it's just a thousand crazy fan girls, Straits Times reported guys who were waiting there since early that morning. And many of them were straight dudes (my gaydar works perfect, thank you very much. And the "oh they only like him coz they're gay too" argument will make me slap you in the face so don't even try)

What can I say? Adam Lambert brings out the crazy in people. Ahem. Moving along.

Where was I? Oh right. Pandemonium.

First, let me show you how far the queue stretched AFTER the square's been filled up

And then allow me to show you what happened when he finally appeared (haha I love how convenient these videos are. Thank you, people-who-took-them!)

Yeah that's right. PAN-FUCKING-DEMONIUM. (hahaha demon. ok never mind)

While on one hand it's really scary to be in the midst of deafening screams, it's also extremely gratifying to see people showing him the adoration he deserves, and YES. THERE'S HOPE FOR SINGAPOREANS AFTER ALL! *wipes tear dramatically*

Ok. Less talk, more pictures. I was near enough to get really close up pictures, but because I was busy trying not to combust or faint or something I ended up with like four nice photos and ten blurry ones. Thank fuck for professional photographers whose photos I can steal.

I'll have you know I took the following photos.
Ok not great but at least you can make out faces mmkay?

This one I'm actually proud of because IT IS CLEAR. UNLIKE EVERYTHING ELSE.

ANYWAY.

As proof of Sony's continued efforts to make every fan pissed off with them (oh did I mention they got boo-ed at the showcase when Glenn Ong thanked them as sponsors? FUNNIEST THING EVER), the autograph session was stated to be one hour long. 1000+++ fans, 1 hour. You do the math.

Photobucket

But even before anybody could get an autograph, 10 lucky bitches who won VIP passes got to go in front of everybody else and get their autographs and A HUG. FROM ADAM LAMBERT HIMSELF. I'd probably have been more jealous if I hadn't been terrified by the screams (of jealousy and rage) from everybody else in the crowd. HAHA that was funny.

The whole autograph process was extremely mechanical - basically you don't even get to hand him the album sleeve yourself. Instead, a grouchy Sony exec (I choose to believe she's a Sony exec because she's a bitch) grabs the sleeve from you and lines them up in front of him for him to sign and ALSO PHYSICALLY BLOCKS YOU from standing right in front of him, so you can only take your sleeve from the other side of her from him for 2.5 seconds before the security guard hauls you off the stage. And when I say haul, I mean HAUL.

A simple illustration (haha it's amazing what I do at work after I'm done with my actual work)

Sony bitch is in brown because she's a piece of shit. The two boulders at each side of the table are bodyguards. We minions are in pink while Adam's in blue because he's special and he glows because he's God.

All bitching aside, I do have to say, it's impossible to get mad (or think clearly) when ADAM LAMBERT is about 50 cm away from you. I would describe to you what happened but I don't think you want to read psychotic blabberings (not as if this entire post isn't made up of psychotic blabberings already) so I'll just post a picture of what you'd have seen if you'd been there.

except of course he's actually looking AT you.

Photobucket

(oh Simon, always so useful)

AND THEN...

him, signs on album sleeve: "hi! thank you!" *flashes biiiiiiig smile"
me (in my mind):
"L.AKSJFHLJHLKWER,OMFG.NMFGPISADLFJASKASSDFLEHLJFLJSDF!!!!!!!!" *flails, chokes and dies*

Photobucket

me (in real life): "THANK YOU" *stupid grin"

I looked probably something like this

The security guard didn't even have to haul me off the stage because I floated right off it.

And that was basically it for me, but the whole thing still went on for another hour. I don't remember what happened for the next hour because my brain had already melted.

AND THEN HE WAS GONE

Photobucket

LOL joking. Just wanted to use the gif. Not enough gifs in this entry.

So have I been relegated to something no better than a Fei Lun Hai fangirl? Why yes, yes I have. Will I stop making fun of them? No, because I'm not fangirling over people who can't sing, act or even look vaguely intelligent. Therefore it's justifiable. (I play with the term "justifiable" very loosely) But there you go. ADAM FUCKING LAMBERT was in town for the very first time and I heard him sing. ADAM FUCKING LAMBERT is about a hundred times more gorgeous in person if that's even physically possible (but then again, he defies laws of physics/biology/logic/i don't even know) ADAM FUCKING LAMBERT was 50 cm away from me and he smiled at me. I don't really give a shit if I am a fangirl ;)

THE END

Yes I'm on a roll

Birthday photos from MJ and Jyn's birthdays on Sunday. We really need to take more photos don't we? If not my blog will become a shrine to Adam Lambert basically die and collect dust.

Dinner at Ma Maisons, which wasn't too hot, contrary to pictures and popular belief.

Sometimes it amuses me how our outings have basically been relegated to two-hour dinners because of all our schedules. Ah well. Such is working/school life.

PART 1 OF 2 OF THE "WHY MARCH 12 AND 13 ARE NOW ADAM LAMBERT DAYS SORRY MINGJIE I KNOW IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY THOUGH BUT STILL" RECAP

I blogged about Raymond Lam's concert, obviously I am going to be blogging about this. But you know, of course, with lots of large fonts, sparkly texts, gifs and variations of "OMFG ADAM LAMBERT I LOVE YOU!"s.

Well actually, that just about sums it all up, doesn't it?

Kidding. Of course I'm not going to spare anyone of the gory details.

Let's start from a couple of weeks ago shall we? I will illustrate with gifs so nobody falls asleep.

So about two weeks ago, 24th of Feb to be precise, rumour has it that Adam FUCKING Lambert was coming to town. I was like:

Photobucket

Somehow I was both JD and Turk at the same time. Anyway, moving along.

The next day, the rumour was confirmed! HOWEVER, bloody Sony Singapore announced that it'd be a closed door, exclusive showcase where no tickets would be sold, only won.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This was what I wanted to do to whoever it was who came up with this great idea (yes that FUCK YOU SONY SINGAPORE post was because of this)

Photobucket

Later, Sony announced further details that they'd be releasing 2000 exclusive copies of his deluxe album (this one I don't have. Nobody judge me), which would contain lucky draw tickets, out of which 500 would score tickets to the showcase. Whilst the odds were now considerably higher, at 25%, I was still boiling with rage at the lack of sale of tickets, since out of the 1500 seats in the theatre, only 500 are going to fans while the rest to sponsors and media. LUCKY FUCKERS. (but I did marvel at their devious marketing strategies. Album sales would probably boosted so FINE.WHATEVER.) I no longer wanted to punch Sony executives in the face, but I did want to tell them

Photobucket

Blah blah blah fast forward to last week 10th of March, the day where the lucky 500's serial numbers were announced. The entire day, actually WEEK, I was basically in this state of mind

Was I one of the 500 lucky ones? With my luck, OF FUCKING COURSE NOT. BUT WAIT. MY FRIEND SCORED VIP SEATS FROM STARHUB, AND SHE WAS BRINGING ME. AND BECAUSE SHE'S THE LUCKIEST BITCH IN SINGAPORE, SHE HAD EXTRA TICKETS FROM HER ALBUM, AND SHE GAVE THEM TO LYDIA.

ME AND LYDIA WERE GOING TO WATCH ADAM FUCKING LAMBERT IN SINGAPORE, LIVE AT THE UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD PANTAGES THEATRE.

Photobucket

 MARCH 12

We were at Universal Studios! Okay it's gorgeous, pretty, blah blah, who cares IT'S ADAM LAMBERT CONCERT DAY. But have one photo anyway:

WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW. NO PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY ALLOWED!

Photobucket

Sony, my hate for you knows no boundaries.

Anyway that second photo was the last one I took all evening. Oh and that's Glenn Ong entertaining the crowd as people started arriving. He's awesome. Have I ever mentioned before that he's a HUGE HUGE HUGE Adam fan? That immediately increases his awesome-level in my books by about a million times. (not that I don't already adore Glenn, of course)

To be honest, what happened all the way from the moment I stepped into the theatre grounds to the point where Adam appeared, I can't really remember anything. Because the moment he appeared, the only thing I could think of was, OMFG HE IS ACTUALLY REAL AND NOT A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION, OMG THIS IS TOO FUCKING SURREAL, THERE HE IS, RIGHT IN FRONT (well, 50 metres away, at least, but still) OF ME, TALKING TO GLENN ONG. THIS IS TOO MUCH TO HANDLE EXCUSE ME WHILE I VOMIT FROM EXCITEMENT.

ADAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!

Photobucket

Yeah I fucking wish. Singapore is obviously too lame to handle spandex-Adam so we get acoustic-sit-down-listen-to-my-pretty-voice-Adam. (which is just as good obviously, nobody's complaining, BUT I WANT THE BATSHIT INSANE OVER THE TOP VERSION ALSO, LIKE THE ONE JAPAN GOT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH)

(STUPID JAPAN. THIS IS UNFAIR.)

Alright, no complaining. Because pretty is pretty :D

GOLD RECORD IN SINGAPORE, BITCHES (and more to come)
Photobucket

I'm obviously going to be using this a lot. Deal with it.

Okay whatever I'm going to say about his singing is obviously going to sound like hyperbole and unbelievable, so all I'm going to say is that I'm pretty sure I will not be spending good money on ANY singer (except for Lady Gaga, but only because I'm not going to go watch her sing. Girl's awesome, but she isn't much of a singer. Performer yes, musician yes, singer not so much.)  in the near future because of how spoiled I've been, even in just six songs, and six acoustic songs at that. No grand sound systems, no funny machinery to correct any vocal shortcomings. Just a guitar, a drum, and a mike.

AND IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING.

Two of my absolute favourites of the night. I adored everything to death, but this two stood out in particular because

1) I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sleepwalker on the album, and it's possibly my favourite, but THE ACOUSTIC LIVE VERSION IS EVEN BETTER, if that is even possible. OMFG. THE VOCAL ACROBATICS. FUCKING. UNBELIEVABLE.
2) I don't actually love Broken Open, but acoustic version makes me want to cry, do charity work, hug some kittens, and then cry some more.

Keeping in mind that the songs were recorded on an iPhone, you can imagine how epic it actually was to be hearing it live right there.

Conclusion?

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

oh and also

Lambert, when are you going on your world tour so I can spend 200 bucks on your ticket?

TO BE CONTINUED! (yes there's a part two)
