Of School and other Random Things
what happens at 830 outside Lee Wee Nam library on a fine school day

OMG i don't know why but this really tickled me. SO TYPICAL!

for the uninitiated, LWN lib is at the North Spine, being the spine where all the engine facs are.
one word lah.
figures.

oh and i just heard on the news that in Singapore, a NINE YEAR OLD girl just gave birth. she was made pregnant by her PRIMARY THREE BOYFRIEND.
i don't know about you, but i felt a little sick at the thought.

I am glad for Law Friends
two reports down,
three tests, two presentations, one group report left.

i don't know if it's just me, or the biz law report is seriously the most friggin' hard thing to complete in the whole world. i spent the whole day just trying to complete ONE report. and if it wasn't for dee, i would still be stuck at the 2nd question. many many thanks! if i get an A for the report i'll treat you :) (so good to have smart law friends!)

i have a very bad feeling about biz law. i like it, but at the same time it's driving me nuts because it's not easy at all, and it's one thing that involves essays yet i cannot crap at. and that makes me very nervous because i thrive on incoherent ramblings. sure there's no right or wrong answer, but when you don't even get something, how are you supposed to make any sense.

right. it's time to get my IT textbook out of its wrapping.

i cannot believe the amount of drivel i'm coming up for the biobiz marketing proposal.
man, what a whole load of CRAP. how am i supposed to market something that i have absolutely no interest nor knowledge about.

i've been disheartened. i'm going to sleep now. screw the proposal.

vjco outing
well, well. a potentially disastrous reunion dinner turned out pretty good after all. thank GOD for the com guys who showed up!

at the beginning when me and seah saw the turn-out, it was really quite a TURN-OFF, and we were already discussing excuses we could give so that we could leave early. like how seah put it euphemistically: "RAHHH!!".
but quite fortunately, more people (people whom we could actually talk with) turned up and we ended up having quite a whale of a time :)

this is seah when she thought that the dinner was going to turn out to be one of the suckiest gatherings ever.
a happy seah when she found out that the outing turned out well in the end!

add another 4 guys into the total number in this picture - the turnout wasnt too bad at all!

dinner was at seoul garden which was exorbitant, and not that great either. after dinner, me and seah, probably the two people most reluctant to show up today, wasnt too keen on going home early, so we hopped over to chijmes with four of the guys for some chilling out at La Viva. nice little spanish pub, really. :)

yes i know. "GOT ANY PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE MEH?" cant use my camera's flash 'cos it works too well and everybody just looks WHITE. hm. or maybe it's just me. seah and zicheng look perfectly fine!william is drunk as a skunk. yeah like who's going to believe that he would be drunk with all those mild drinks - that alcoholic! (hahaha. just kidding)the dudes. nono. no flash please. oh and by the way i paid 10bucks for a drink that was about 95% fruit juice and 5% alcohol.okay the picture with flash didn't turn out so bad after all.

see you guys for clubbing after our exams!!

i hate that feeling of unsettledness at the pit of my stomach. and i hate it even more because i cannot explain why it's even there in the first place.

gnawing feeling of unsettledness. what can it be?? workload? HOW CAN I HAVE THIS KIND OF FEELING TOWARDS WORK? i know there's a pile of shit waiting for me, starting this weekend, to complete, but if i'm already going to crumble under this, how the hell am i supposed to survive the exams again.

wah siao i can't believe i'm even typing this. since when have i been so troubled by work.
not even when i have 3 tests, 2 individual reports, 1 group report, 2 presentations to complete by about 10 days.
now i'm starting to see why i really don't want to go for the reunion dinner later.
ah. screw the 2% mini quizzes/cheatable tests/SU-able reports/5% IT presentation. it's not going to spoil my mood (even though it already has.)

on a different note. lyd, your eye candy in my school is a nice person leh. hahaha. :P

oh! and Good Friend in NTU (hahaha i like these names. Good Friend, Miss Tactless, Certain Fat Bitch. i shall have more) lent me Lemony Snicket! craig! ;) (Good Friend says i'm obssessed, "he only appeared for that few seconds?!?", but i waved him off dismissively. heh)

thought i'd just ramble for a little while and wait for this bout of sian-ness pass by. jeez. LEAVE ME ALONE. i need the motivation to do my tutorials!

finally met up with dee today! we never seem to be able to meet up - we're always free at different times, or some unforseen circumstances would occur at the last minute and spoil all our plans. so finally we had our long awaited gossip session today!
(oh and it's so fun when we can start chatting about law stuff with each other. HA. I AM HALF A LAW STUDENT NOW. nah only kidding. one set of our lecture notes probably equates to one of their modules)

hmm. cloud of moodiness still hanging here. wow and seah, now i'm the one who's really having second thoughts about going to the reunion dinner tomorrow! don't see the bloody point leh.

then again, i might change my mind again later after this cloud disperses.

ahhh. so damn bloody goodlooking.

reminds me that i want to watch that new hugh grant show. love the british/scottish accents ;)

yes of course this is a very pointless entry.

04S22 gathering
i'm going out again later so i might as well update right now.

well, the past few days have been the same old routine of visiting, eating, collecting angbaos, watching vcds, getting fat yada yada. same routine every single year - which i'd only treasure after school starts and i realise that there's nothing to look forward to again until after the final exams. URGH!

it was a good holiday though. a nice breather from the frantic pace of school life. although i'd have you know that i was actually slogging away on my FM tutorial on the 1st day of the lunar new year. it's so not my fault. i have a disgusting marketing proposal for biobiz coming up. :(

so anyway it was the S22 visit to liren's spanking new house today, and boy it's one lovely place! too bad the karaoke system isn't up yet, but once it's done, i reckon all our future kbox outings would be to his house. yay.

the wannabe-victorian hahaha! just kidding mol. you'd have made a very welcome addition to the class.
check out the pond!vic!sangi!rach!mol and all the girls

uncle chew!

always-free-for-kbox-junhong!

altogether!

had a nice time gossiping with rach, vic and sangi. hahaha those girls never fail to crack me up! hopefully we'd be having a kbox outing this sunday. it'd definitely be great if all of us can make it :) uncle chew! you and jam better make time for us! our last time to kbox was in december 2005!!

and many thanks to liren for being a wonderful host! more gatherings at your house in the future please :)

CNY eve is really not quite CNY eve when you have to spend it in a dingy hall room in SCHOOL.

OF ALL PLACES. SCHOOL.

there's no aircon, no 40-inch tv with cable, no yummy food, no high speed wireless, and what's the most important thing?

IT'S SCHOOL. and i should just remind you that that was exactly the place that left a very deep and lasting and BAD impression of ntu that i nearly didn't come here.

what's that you say? oh yes. it's chinese new year. get into the spirit of things. ahhhhhhhh -waves dismissively-
it's still not the same.

okay i'm done complaining.

hallo my dear friends happy valentine's day.
if you had a date/boyfriend/girlfriend, good for you
if not, listen to what Miss Tactless said to me today

"so! did you get any flowers today?"
-one second pause-
"oh ya you don't have a boyfriend right"

KNN!!!! (i am so sorry i cussed. just for today and for this incident, i have the prerogative)
and you know what's really really funny? SHE REALLY DIDN'T MEAN TO BE IRRITATING ON PURPOSE. she is just SO brainlessly tactless.

my god this so does not bode well for the future tutorials. I MUST GRIT MY TEETH AND NOT RETORT! and my mouth is already itching because you know how i cant stand not retorting stupid people. GRRR!

anyway i do agree with jiayin. it used to be all fun back in the jc days when it came to valentine's day. because people actually remembered that it was ALSO KNOWN AS FRIENDSHIP DAY.
we would exchange gifts among the clique, the guys would buy flowers for all the girls in the class.. it was great :) everybody would get something at the end of the day and you don't feel like a complete loser because you're not toting flowers while the streets are teeming with smug girls with their "my bouquet is larger than yours" look.
(okay. am only kidding heehee. i think i sound insanely jealous. but then again, IF my boyfriend ever got me a bouquet of flowers for vday, it would be a cold day in hell before i agree to carry it. i'd probably stuff it in my bag. no i am not kidding. you know what would be really good though? a Tiffany and Co. paper bag. alternatively, any luxury brand. ha. who needs flowers!)

on a different note though. one of my tutorial mates got a surprise bouquet from her boyfriend during class today.
the delivery guy knocked on the door in the middle of the lesson and gave her the bouquet. and you know what's the sweetest thing? THE BOYFRIEND IS IN THE ARMY. and he had to order through the school.
aww. lucky thing. :)

and at the risk of sounding like sour grapes, i have to say i'm cool with not being attached. oh two years worth of nightmarish experience would teach you a thing or two about the emotional trauma of being the object of insane possessiveness.
it's just when i see people like A Certain Fat Bitch (remember the prerogative!) having dates that i get the heebie jeebies. and then moan about the lack of fairness in the world.
heh heh.

okay so anyway since i didn't have the elective today, i met up with my long-lost colleague michelle at Vivo!! i have not seen her since she flew off to Down Under last july!
ah it was just like the old times. yakking about everything under the sun; disgusting bosses, disgusting people, funny people blah blah.. it was great!
haha after a long lunch at food republic, we wandered around the stores (River Island has pretty clothes but the stuff is about a 100% overpriced. and Red2 has the prettiest dresses! oh i have big plans for my angbao money)before settling down at a really old-school cafe for another gossiping sesh :)

old school gramophone!
dinner!

what can i say, my photography skills absolutely suck.

great to see that 1/2 yr later, we still have endless things to talk about! i say my theory stands: if you can click with somebody, you can. if not, you never will.

if i get a sms tomorrow going like this : 'hi minyan, so how was your v-day? :)' I AM GOING TO HURL. oh but that's another story for another day.

THERE ARE LIMITS TO MY PATIENCE AND NICENESS.

I MUST FINISH THAT DARNED BIOBIZ REPORT BY TONIGHT.

but how can i do so when EVERY. THING. IS. DISTRACTING. ME.

i type about two sentences in a brilliant flash of inspiration (ha. yeah. ha), and then i get bored and go play some online games for ten minutes.
ooh. exasperation!

and i actually had to re-edit the whole report because ONLY NOW the course coordinator tells us that we should be writing an opinionated report rather than a plain summary. THEN WHY IS THE FIRST ASSIGNMENT CALLED A SUMMARY?

ooh. more exasperation!

i am looking forward to cny (nothing quite like the thought of many angbaos to perk you up!)
but first i must go through these:
1. FM tutorial
2. IT Microsoft Access assignment
3. 1/4 of the biobiz report left
4. 3 hours of comm management on friday (oh man!)

and then, right after the cny break:
1. possibility of having biz law presentation
2. possibility of having FM test
3. another biobiz report
4. endless piles of tutorials to complete

urgh. extremely frustrating. and there's nothing more annoying than being thrown off schedule because i usually need about one day to complete ONE tutorial (of course having to read the textbook beforehand) because i am always distracted BY EVERY SINGLE THING.
biz law tutorial was knocked back to be done over the weekend, but then my entire weekend was almost completely gone due to two birthday outings - my cousin and JJ's. not that i'm complaining of course. good food and good fun respectively :)
but of course that would mean I WONT HAVE SUFFICIENT TIME TO DO MY TUTORIALS! oh and that just irks me to no end because i want a worry-free week ahead!!

ok am just ranting.

oh and guess what. this chinese new year's eve, instead of having a nice dinner at my aunt's house (the one with the kick-ass furnishing, you'd remember haha),
WE WOULD BE HAVING THE REUNION DINNER AT NTU HALL 6.
ah i don't even want to explain why.
I HAVE TO SPEND CNY EVE IN SCHOOL? :(

so anyway it was JJ's belated birthday celebration today. due to lack of time and the burden of lab reports, tutorials and the guys having to book in, in the evening, we could only meet up for a short lunch at TM. (it's really time to change locations)

you know how difficult it is to light 19 candles not!

hahaha i have to post this photo because only today did i realise JJ's slight resemblance to the delectable elvin ng!

it was so funny, when he walked over to meet us, i gave him a cursory glance and totally did not recognise him , and at the same time i was thinking to myself "wah that guy looks a little like elvin ng". and it was only after i saw seah and lydia behind him did i realise it was JJ. haha!

and it's terribly sad to know that we'd only be able to meet up after the exams! :(

i neglected my biz law tutorial yesterday night because good ol' mj wanted to go out for supper all of a sudden and he offered to drive us (because he just got his license. many congratulations! may you drive us to outings in the future hee hee), so.. to hell with biz law!

so i hopped into his dad's car happily at 9.30pm, and seriously, there's something about your friend driving that is so exciting (perhaps a little on the dangerous side as well haha). then off we went to pick up jiayin at kembangan. and on the way there, mj made a wrong turn which meant that he had to take a longer route to jiayin's house. perhaps i should have taken that as a sign for more things to come.

oh well i will not bore you with details about how we got lost on the way to yuexin's house (those darned tampines streets! once you get lost, you can never get out!), and how jiayin screamed at mj for not keeping his eyes on the road, and having mj yell back to not yell at him (hahahahhaa. those two are like an old married couple. how adorable and funny)
but eventually, we reached yuexin's house at 10.35pm and finally to bedok market at 11.00pm .

which of course means that i was on the car for one and a half hours. -_______-

so anyway. it was prata and milo! :)

ya mj really doesn't care about his clothes when he goes out with us. :(

yay. more outings with mj's car in the future please!

i was flipping through the newspaper this morning when i realised that 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter was on!
i don't know if i have mentioned this before, but this show was one of my favourite sitcoms back in the sec 4 days, along with My Wife and Kids. both, unfortunately has been canceled since.
8 simple rules was on saturday evenings while the other one was shown daily at around 530pm, so i'd always rush home from school to catch it. great memories :)
so i went to switch on my tv excitedly, and settled down in front of the tv prepared to be entertained for the next 1/2 hour.

1/2 hour later i was left wondering why on earth i ever thought the show was funny.

granted, those were the days before i discovered Friends and whoseline (yes i knew about whoseline back in sec4. unfortunately it was shown at 1.30am or some other ungodly time and i couldn't understand a single thing because i had to turn down the volume and so i couldn't catch any of the jokes)
but this show was seriously UNFUNNY.
the acting was mediocre, the dialogue was lame, and the punchlines were BLAH.
oh and the actress playing the eldest daughter reminded me of a certain fat bitch that i often feel like slapping :) only of course the actress was about a million times prettier.

(oh sorry did i just say that? i take it back. not really)

i suppose we do outgrow things.
some things that we used to treasure, or find really amusing (haha i notice that there's not much of a link, but you know what i mean!), years later we may ask ourselves, what the heck did i use to see in it, or you may realise that it's not that big a deal anyway.
and of course, we're continuously finding new things to replace these. we move on.
no point going on thinking that those old things are worth much, especially when they actually aren't.
move on, and you'd find newer things that are much better, and funnier. why fall back on these lousy things?

therefore. this show is hereby CONDEMNED.

and speaking of crappy sitcoms, what's with that new show with ella and everybody's favourite boy, wu zun?
i think i'd watch the show for that cutie wu zun, but everytime i see ella acting cute i feel like gouging my eyes out. and can i just add that she makes a really ugly man? totally reminded me of amanda bynes in She's The Man. who totally disgusted me, seah, lyd and the vs jrs one fine afternoon when we rented the movie to watch at ck's house. URGH!

"ooh. another innocent victim of my pointless rage!" -shakes fist-

quoting of course, my new favourite guy.

at least this time round, seah and william won't be protesting loudly about my choice. HAHA. at least not william. RIGHT?

A Professor at one of the Universities was explaining marketing concepts
to the Students:

1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" That's Direct Marketing

2. You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl. One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says: "He's very rich. Marry him." - That's Advertising

3. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her telephone number. The next day, you call and say: "Hi, I'm very rich. Marry me." That's Telemarketing.

4. You're at a party and see a gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten your tie, you walk up to her andpour her a drink, you open the door (of the car)for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her ride and then say: "By the way, I'm rich. Will you marry me?" - That's Public Relations.

5. You're at a party and see a gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and says: "You are very rich! Can you marry me?" - That's Brand recognition.

6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" She gives you a nice hard slap on your face.- That's Customer Feedback.

7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" And she introduces you to her husband. - That's demand and supply gap.

8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say anything, another person comes and tell her: "I'm rich. Will you marry me?" and she goes with him - That's competition eating into your market share.

9. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say: "I'm rich, Marry me!" your wife arrives. - That's restriction for entering new markets.

oh. good ol' marketing.

ah PMS. makes a girl flare up over nothing.

yesterday was finally the day i had to stop skipping comm management classes. the timing just sucks man : 2.30pm on a friday afternoon while my IT seminar ends at 12.30pm!!
it turned out to be quite alright. the tutor was nice and funny, the people were all chatty and were not adversed to voicing their opinions (though not pretentiously so, unlike some people in a certain tutorial, who were so obviously doing so for the sake of the participation points. don't argue for the sake of arguing!)

and of course yesterday was the day some of us discovered some rather shocking yet amusing news. (shuxian please remind me to tell you about it! guranteed to make you fall off your chair!)
it was so damn hilarious. some of us discovered it by accident, another one blurted it out by accident and then eventually the whole world knew about it. and boy did we have fun with it during IT sem. :P

ooh just a couple weeks more to chinese new year! :D

how do i put this

it's like, the wound has already more or less healed, but then you come around and pull the scab right off even before it's ready to fall off.
it freaking hurts man.
once again, the wound has been exposed,
and now the whole bloody healing process has to start all over again.

i'm so exasperated and fed-up i don't even know where to begin.

it's rather amazing how far one can go along the process with self-delusion, with stupid cliches like "he's not worthy of you", until one day the person realises that the other party doesn't even give a shit whether you're alive or not.
