So yesterday's media tour of Sentosa's Spooktacular might be the most fun thing I've been on since the beginning of this job. Not the one with the most tangible benefits, mind you (coz helloooo, makeup vouchers and free products cannot be beat) but definitely the most interesting and well thought-out.

TOO BAD I WENT FOR ONE HAUNTED TRAIL AND FREAKED OUT AND REFUSED TO GO ON ANYMORE. Damnit :( IT WASN'T LIKE IT WAS PARTICULARLY SCARY. I JUST HATE THINGS JUMPING OUT ON ME.

YEAH OF COURSE IT DOESN'T LOOK SCARY IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

Kinda cool though. I think Seah would approve. HAHA.

Yeah definitely one of the times where I hate being such a wuss

So I am probably the most childish person on earth (and I don't give a shit), but every time I hear people I know talk about things like applying for flats, getting married, having kids, all I want to do is to run screaming in the other direction. Talk like this never makes me feel like I should grow up. Instead it makes me want to regress. Preferably to a time where we are too young to be worried about things like that, and when we already don't have to fret over stupid shit like school work and exams. OH WAIT. THAT TIME IS SUPPOSED TO BE NOW.

Let me put things into perspective. You basically have been tied down the moment you were born till the day you graduate from university by the lack of freedom, whether it comes from your parents or school, or in most cases, both. The moment you graduate, for the first time in your life, you are a fully fledged working adult. Sure there are bills to pay and money to give to your parents, but for the most part, you're living life for yourself. Your money's yours, you can splurge on stupid shit, you have fun, you live life. OR THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT PEOPLE OUR AGE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. Instead, what I see is a vast number of people rushing, seemingly in a bid to outdo each other (sorry, it just seems that way) to the altar, to do the exact things that are going to tie you down for the rest of your life, when YOU HAVE JUST GOTTEN FREEDOM.

Sure, I don't doubt that there are the few rare cases where it's a case of love conquering all (lol actually I do), but for the majority of these people, no offence, it just looks like a competition. Holy shit, XXX in the office just got engaged today. MUST. HINT. TO. BOYFRIEND. TO . APPLY. FOR. THAT. BTO. IN. SENGKANG. Yeah, they're really not kidding about Kiasuism being the culture of Singapore. And what happened to the my generation of people? Why are they suddenly all acting like people from the 50s, with nothing but marriage on their minds and wanting to get tied down before the age of 24?! GOVT, YOU SURE ABOUT THOSE MARRIAGE AGE AND BIRTH RATE STATS?

It's funny to me sometimes, except that it's not, because I swear everytime I hear talk of applying for flats among people who are NOT EVEN IN THEIR MID 20S YET I shudder. The point here is not that I don't approve of what they are doing, because I don't care. I don't want you to feel bad about doing something that clearly gives you joy, but rather, I am questioning the motives behind the actions, because right now, the main motivation behind all this seems more to do with the fact that it' a fad, a trend, that it's the in thing to do, and less because of love.

And also yes, FREEDOM. Yeah maybe I'm just idealistic, or childish, whatever, but I honestly thought now, right now, is the time where we can be selfish and live our lives for no one but ourselves. Clearly I'm in the minority with a thinking like that. Whatever. Excuse me while I not grow the fuck up and continue to have fun with life.

"Even someone like me, someone that has recently come into some success in his career. I'm touring the world, I have a CD out, I do music videos, I'm living my dream. Even I get bullied. You look under any comment section on any article, and there's bullies in there telling me that I'm a f----t, that I'm ugly, that I'm gross — 'Ew, gross, nasty, he's a girly' — all this crap. I'm singled out and it's all 'gay, gay, gay, gay, gay,' even though there is so much more to me than just who I choose to sleep with. ...

"So the thing at the end of the day is, ladies and gentlemen, that you are so much more than your orientation,"

"You know it and I know it. So don't let those bullies and those ignorant, fearful, small-minded people prove you wrong. You have to be strong, and you have to pay attention to the positive. And in doing so, you will push through and you will rise up and you will live your life to the fullest. It gets better, but it's up to you."

Okay so I'm not a brand whore. TOTALLY NOT. But if there's ONE bag that I'd be spending big bucks on, it'd be this

DAMN YOU BALENCIAGA!!

For the record, the bag I'm currently carrying is a Balenciaga-inspired (TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL BTW), and it cracked me up so much the other time when I went for an event and the PR person asked me excitedly if I was carrying a Balenciaga. YEAH I FUCKING WISH.

None of it is a competition. Not consciously, not willingly anyway.

Those unrealistic expectations are nobody's but yourself's.

I wonder how many people still read my blog. I count three, including me. On one hand while this does absolutely nothing for my incessant need for attention (ha), it feels good to be able to bitch talk freely about people that might otherwise read my blog.

Still, it'd be nice to see who are the people still reading this. It's easy to find out, really, I think. I'd just need to broadcast something like "OH HELLO GUESS WHAT I MET ADAM LAMBERT" and see how many people come and ask me about it.

HELLO GUESS WHAT I MET ADAM LAMBERT.

Wait.

I'm actually serious. Hahahahhaha. :D

It's not my fault. I played no part in this. Stop looking at me like I'm crazy. I AM NOT. Lol I totally am but whatever I MET ADAM LAMBERT AND 23049280394 PEOPLE DID NOT HA.

It happened innocuously enough. I was on MC at home hacking half a lung out lying most pathetically on my bed when I got woken up by my friend calling me.

Friend: "HELLO. DO YOU WANT TO MEET ADAM?"
Me: "WHAT" *coughs and falls off bed*

Well long story short, she won Meet & Greet passes because everybody in the world except me is a lucky bitch, but because I am also apparently lucky for having a friend like her, she decided to bring me! Woooo! I may have shitty luck but I have awesome friends! I win!

Okay to be continued when I am er.. not at work.

Okay, I really need to get my mojo going, because this writing drought has been going on the past couple of weeks and it's killing me. I have a shit ton of things to blog about, not to mention, you know, my work actually depends on me being able to write.

So here's what I'd like to bitch about:

YOU KNOW, I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE IT WHEN ASIAN ARTISTES (YES, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM DOES IT) SPLASH "WORLD TOUR" ALL OVER THEIR POSTERS. HELLO, IT'S ONLY A WORLD TOUR WHEN YOU GO TO EVERY SINGLE CONTINENT ON THE PLANET MINUS ANTARCTICA AND MAYBE AFRICA. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, SINGAPORE + MALAYSIA + TAIWAN AND MAYBE HONG KONG AND CHINA DO NOT CONSTITUTE THE WORLD. STOP TRYING TO OVER-EXAGGERATE TO MAKE YOUR 6-7 CONCERTS LOOK MORE IMPORTANT THAN IT REALLY IS. AND THAT INCLUDES YOU JAY CHOU, I DON'T CARE THAT YOU'VE HELD 3 CONCERTS HERE AND 9 IN HONG KONG. REPEAT AFTER ME: ASIA DOES NOT EQUAL THE WORLD. QUIT MAKING STUPID DELIBERATE MISTAKES LIKE THAT!!

Wow I feel so much better. :)
