honestly, watching this show can cause heart attacks sometimes. i've always avoided watching HK family dramas because i know i have a weak heart and i cannot handle the extremities of emotions that one will go through when watching such show genres:
the constant screaming and yelling family confrontations. the evil bitches scheming to harm the family. the complicated love triangles. the hilarious family gathering scenes.
but it's the formula of anger + outrage + happiness + sadness that keeps me drawn to this show. it's ridiculous. the show can make me so furious one second that i want to throw things at my laptop, and then will soothe me (usually when the evil bitches are confronted or thrown out of the house) before it puts me through the whole turmoil when somebody plots again against somebody else. sometimes i can't even bring myself to watch some of the scenes because i think i'll just start yelling irrelevant stuff at innocent people on msn. (it has happened before. watching episode 29 made me start typing in CAPS to shuxian and yuexin ranting about wanting to wring the neck of the fat ugly actress that is kate tsui hahaha)

yes, the ever ugly kate tsui. granted, i did find two particularly bad photos of her, but well, she must have kissed some serious ass to get to where she is today seeing the extent of how she CANNOT act.

ANYWAY.
yet, everyday i will faithfully refresh the page that contains the download links to the show, just so i can download the next episode to satisfy the apparent perverse urge to put myself through such emotional turbulence. but ultimately, i think we all love this show is because we know at the end of the day, the bad guys would get their just desserts, and that's why i willingly give myself an adrenaline rush everyday, be it with anger or happiness.
such is the typical formula of a HK family drama. yet, such is a winning formula of a drama that would go down as one of the best dramas i've ever watched.
(and i personally think this show triumphs over Heart of Greed because well, HoG just deals out the tears nonstop with no happy ending. i cannot handle it. haha)
