HONG KONG DAY 1 - 2nd Jan
thanks to jiayin zhi (oops. heh heh), we got SIA tickets at a very reasonable price, so it was the atas way to our very first trip together to Hong Kong!

mandatory going-overseas-shot

the happy people with their boarding passes!

one last call to annoy the Shao Ye during his worktime. heh

our flight was at 1.30pm

and frankly, the flight was a little too short. HAHA. with KrisWorld, and awesome food, a 3.5h flight is really not enough :P

we reached the HK airport at around 5.15 and by the time we settled our luggage and bought our Octopus card, it was 6, and we made our way to the bus terminal to take the shuttle bus to our hotel. and i have to say, HK's weather at this point of the year just ROCKS. when i stepped out of the airport, my first thought was "eh how come their bus terminal has air-con".
haha.the air was just a tad frosty, but just nice enough for us tropical residents.

our hotel was abit of a joke. because we all walked past it without even seeing it, and this was why.
zhi would like to re-enact what happened:

"hmm. where's the hotel!"

"i don't get it! the map says it's right here!"

"oh!!"
WAHAHAHA. zhi's expressions are damn funny.

the street right outside the hotel.

apparently the hotel was under construction (from the looks of it, at least) but for the 4 days we were there we aint see no construction going on. hahaha.

DINNERa small typical HK eatery across the street from our hotel

a great meal which cost only about S$8. HK isn't exactly the cheapest place for shopping, but its food is definitely dirt-cheap yet yummilicious.

after dinner, we met kayan for dessert at this crowded little dessert shop. we had some sort of egg custard pudding but none of us could finish it because we got sick of it pretty quickly. we got out of there just as quickly because there were people queuing outside the shop and the store owners looked like they couldn't wait for us to get out.

we then decided to walk our way to the Avenue of Stars.

passed by their equivalent of orchard road, except that their designer shops are a whole lot bigger and nicer.

at the Avenue of Stars. HK's city skyline is just breathtaking. unfortunately my lousy camera was unable to capture the beauty so this lovely picture is courtesy of jiayin!

it was freezing at night, especially with the sea breeze and all.

we headed back to our hotel at about 11pm, and by the time we went to sleep it was almost 3am.

and it was not a good first night at all -shakes head-

hahaha. to be continued.
